About

"Gunslinging Bird" is a composition by Charles Mingus released on the album Mingus Dynasty. The name is a shorter form of the original title  which was "If Charlie Parker were a Gunslinger, There'd be a Whole Lot of Dead Copycats". Mingus was lamenting on saxophonists in the 1950s copying Parker's style and profiting from the it.

New thoughts and ideas are few and far between -- most are rehashes of earlier inspirations of individuals who were often not rewarded and recede from view. Old ideas are often combined seamlessly with new ones, and updated to stay relevant.

The observations in this blog make no claims to originality. Wherever possible, the original observers are acknowledged.
